Test the work, not the catalog

A tool that feels excellent for five minutes may create wrist fatigue by stop twenty. Run every candidate on complete routes and rotate testers so one person’s technique does not decide the result.

Score six conditions

Rate pickup completeness, bag transfer, wet performance, gravel performance, reach, and end-of-day fatigue. Use the same 1–5 scale and add a short note whenever a score is one or five.

Measure total handling time

Include cleaning, vehicle storage, adjustment, and breakage—not just scooping speed. A slightly slower tool can win if it is easier to sanitize and stays reliable.

Buy for the dominant route

There may be no universal winner. Select the tool that performs best in the conditions your team sees most, then keep a specialty option for unusual properties.
